Healthy Popsicle and Frozen Treat Recipes to Keep Cool This Summer

A great sweet treat to beat the heat this summer and to get an extra dose of fruit is popsicles! Ditch the store bought sugar-y ice creams and try a healthy alternative. Below are some of the easiest popsicles you can make with your kids this summer.

  1. Strawberry Basil Blast

To make these vitamin C pops start by simmering 1/3 cup sugar + ¾ cup water in a small saucepan until sugar is dissolved. Add 4 basil leaves to the simmer for 1 minute and set aside. In a blender, blend 4 ½ cups of strawberries until smooth. Add the sugar mixture and blend until just combined. Pour mixture into popsicle molds and freeze until solid.

  1. Raspberry Lemonade

The raspberries are rich in fiber which makes these popsicles a great afternoon snack. To make these Raspberry Lemonade popsicles, blend 3 cups of raspberries, a ½ cup freshly squeezed lemon juice, a ½ cup sugar dissolved in 1 cup water. Pour mixture into popsicle molds, insert stick and freeze until solid.

  1. Peaches n’ Cream

Peaches are full of antioxidants and Vitamins A and C. Makes these popsicles by blending together 4 ½ cups chopped peaches and 1 teaspoon of vanilla. In a separate bowl, mix together ½ cup half and half cream and ½ cup of maple syrup. Mix together the two mixtures in the mold to create a swirled effect, insert stick and freeze until solid.
