During the school year kids are generally more active since they have to be up and walking to the bus stop, or are required to go to physical education classes or after school programs. With one in three children and teens being overweight, summer can set back individuals aiming to turn around his or her weight problems.

The American Academy of Pediatrics conducted a study on children ages 5 to 12 about the amount of time spent per day in front of the screen watching television. They found that during the summer children spend about 3 hours per day in front of a screen.
